Britta Thomsen

Education:

She graduated from the University of Lisbon (studies in Portuguese language and culture) and from Aarhus University (Studies in Portuguese and Spanish). She also holds an MA in history from Aarhus University.

Prior Work:

Prior to the European Parliament, she was director and owner of Facilitate (consultancy), working on EU labour market issues from 2001 to 2004. Between 1989 and 2000, she worked as consultant in education, human resources, tourism and services industries’ issues.

Current Employment/Responsibilities:

Britta Thomsen is a Member of the European Parliament since 2004 and belongs to the Progressive Alliance of Socialists and Democrats group. She is member of the Committee on Industry, Research and Energy, the Committee on Women’s Rights and Gender Equality and of the Delegation for relations with the Mercosur countries.

Areas of Research Interest:

Renewable energy, energy efficiency and gender equality.
